Increasing Reading Speed Tips

Your eyes will have a certain movement when you read a page. It will stop between words and rest on a word (fixation). Almost all readers will fixate at least once on each word on a line of text. Learn to take in more words per fixation and it can increase your reading speed. It is better than having your eyes move faster.

Way back in the 1940s, there was also a trend to use machines for increasing reading speeds and even today, computers are playing a big role in this direction. Computers are cool means of improving reading speeds by using speed reading software that focus on better reading.

Focus On Group Of Words

Common readers usually read word by word and it is an extremely slow process. Increasing reading speed can be done with some tips. Learn to focus on two or three words at a time instead of one. One could also find that increasing reading speed would necessitate improving one’s vocabulary and this would require familiarizing yourself with new words. Try to force yourself to read faster by reading in groups of words at a time.

By reading above comfortable levels can increase reading speed. And results can be twice or thrice the normal reading speed after a few days. To help in increasing reading speed, you should read more often. Have a 15 minutes training period per day. The more you read, the more you will be good at it. Of course, one must not forget the purpose of reading. If the purpose is to grasp the main points then you can simply scan through the material without reading every word.
